Today's Advisory Committee was met once again with stalling the petition to require proof of residency for UCO Officers. This is the third time that this has happened. Seems that some think that if it's stalled enough times, it will just go away. There is even talk of making it so a petition will not be permitted to be brought before the committee for one year after being turned down. While that may not be a bad idea, it would not apply to this one because it has not been brought up for a vote yet.
First it was withdrawn to change some of the language, second time it never got to a vote, again due to language of the petition, third time it was dismissed because the papers with the petition and the signatures were stapled together then were later taken apart during the checking of signature validity and the chairperson did not "feel comfortable" excepting them.
Stalled for another couple weeks. Forms had to be re-written, signatures have to be done again, and the process started all over again.
Seems every time the petition is stalled, more residents are getting fed up and more people want to sign.
Thanks to the insistence of one of the officers, another advisory meeting is scheduled for the end of the month.
This time the petition will be made so the signatures will be on the front AND back of each sheet with the petition text on the front. I encourage you to go out and sign this petition again if you did it before and if you did not sign before, please do so now.
