What would you do?

Your association has not had a board meeting in seven months... they finally decide to have one, and they schedule it DURING the Delegate Assembly Meeting...
Now your association is not represented at the assembly, they are hostile and refuse to make changes. What do you do?
You get a petition signed by residents and post it, they tear it down.
You knock on the presidents door and ask if can be changed, he says Galleger made the time, and it will not be changed.
You knock on the secretary's door, and after saying who it is, you hear: "Stop harassing me, I'm calling 911". I hadn't even said why I wanted to speak to him.
Fortunately elections are coming soon and these people WILL be removed from office.

  1. Hi Bob,
Gallagher has been our (Sheffield N's) management company now for about four years. During the years I was association president, I was very satisfied with Phil Gallagher's handling of things. He's a good man. I'm sure, if in fact he "set the date and time" for your association's meeting, he did so forgetting it was the first Friday of the month and therefore a delegates' meeting was scheduled for then. Maybe, too, he only AGREED to the time, not thinking about it being a delegates' meeting date. One can say "Well, he should have known," but we all have such lapses in our thinking. I don't think you ARE blaming Phil, but he has become a friend, and I can't help wanting to stick up for him!

  2. I am not blaming Phil, I seriously doubt he set the time and date, but just in case I and others have called and left messages asking for a change. I also posted a letter on out board asking for the change and it was signed by four of us, including a board member. They tore it down and I reposted it and it was signed by another owner. Five owners have signed already. Doubt that it will do any good as our president is on a power trip and has called himself the chief in charge in the past. This meeting is supposed to be for the budget, but according to the published agenda, does not leave room for new business, and if is run like the last one on Passover, we may not be allowed to speak... we will see.

  3. Apparently he did set the date. You would think he would know not to do this during a delegate assembly. So my association doesn't get representation because they don't care to change the date or time. Good thing elections are coming soon and it's time to get these people out and stop them from spending our money without board meetings and approval. Twice they have spent over a thousand without ever meeting. Our president, the self proclaimed karaoke king, Jack Kasden! has refused to allow owners to speak at the last meeting held on the first day of Passover. That was when he took the treasurers position away from the lady that had done the job for close to ten years. She asked then to have the meeting changed due to the holiday, but he refused and she could not be there. I and another past president tried to speak up for her, but because Jack wants it his way, she was removed, we were not allowed to speak, and there has been nothing but animosity in our association since. The board tries to take credit for things they didn't do and things that could have been done a hell of a whole lot better. They paid $205 for a filing cabinet rather than repair the lock on the one we had. Maybe a twenty or thirty dollar job, they paid over a thousand for a job we had a bid of five hundred and the job they paid so much for was never completed. Our secretary Phil Ward is constantly hostile, as is our Vice President, who does nothing at all. She was the former secretary that quit without informing the rest of the board. And they made her Vice President...what a joke. Other board members include one that thinks himself a contractor and ripped off another owner by charging $65 to put in two screws into her cabinets, and tries to charge $40 an hour to "supervise" an electrician working in his unit. Utterly outrageous! Two others did not even want to be on the board but were pushed into it by others. I am told that our secretary had stated that by electing Jack as president, "we can control him". Well they did. When they felt they couldn't control him anymore, they called our elections a couple months earlier to get him out. He is now supposedly selling his place but won't do it until February. One can only assume it is so he can vote in the upcoming election. What does he care, he is leaving.

  4. Latest update!!!! Home break-in...again. Wow, this time we have a posting on our bulletin board. Beware of geckos that break in and die in your homes.
This is would be so funny except when I got home from a couple meetings, he had the nerve to accuse me of breaking in his house! Sounds like the paranoid delusions have gotten out of control. Someone needs to see a psych...

  5. Maybe the gecko was the one that stole the minutes to the board meetings...
