I watched this month's Delegate Assembly Meeting online with so surprise to the usual rhetoric about how someone didn't get to read this or that before it was brought up for a vote... same thing EVERY TIME a vote comes up. they want something put off until the following month "so they could read it". If they were so interested, why didn't they request a copy the day before? why are some things not great to release too early?
There have been unscrupulous people in the past that have released information to those that really shouldn't get it and it winds up in the hands of venders competition, and can skew a contract the wrong way and we could wind up voting for something totally different from what is expected.
UCO's function is to obtain the best possible contract for the village. THAT IS ACTUALLY IT'S MAIN FUNCTION. Not to handle the little daytoday problems of your association.
UCO doesn't care what color you want to paint your railings, although If asked, I am sure someone there will be happy to give their opinion which someone MAY take for advice... Be very careful what you ask of UCO, and UCO be aware of your answers.
Remember, everyone has an opinion, most of them are not correct, some are. listen carefully for what you believe to be the right answer and by all means, support it.
Some will find enlightenment while others will carry on with the belief that they and only they are right and ever will ever be right, And to them in particular, I ask, do you know what UCA's function really is? It's not to settle quarrels about what plant you want on your front yard, or whether your railing should be gray, blue red or sky-blue-pink. It works out contracts.
Committees are formed to oversee an issue, then they resolve the issue and if need be it comes before the DA.
If you don't read the papers put out, or come in the day before and get an advance copy, then you are not doing YOUR job.
In closing, a heathy happy new year. Good luck to those that are running for office, and let's see how many more we can get.

I know not what Bob Rivera is talking about. I know this, all the arguments around and about UCO have to do with their lack of fairness and their overbearing use of force to get what they want. Need I talk about the Clubhouse and Israels's influence? What about the way the Master runs the DA? His opinions, his knowledge is all that holds sway and all that counts. Egerybody else that has an opinion or an idea might as well stay home. But not for much longer now.
ReplyDeleteGary, how can you not know of what I speak of? I may not have gone to the DA this month, but I did watch it online, and all this arguing about people that are not on any committees complaining that they did not get to read the security contracts before they were voted on. The contracts were available, they just did not or would not seek them out beforehand. It makes for more dramatic rhetoric when they can say they were not able to read it. All the while they had the opportunity, they just did not take advantage of it. That sounds pretty fair to me.
ReplyDeleteLet me ask you this, would you rather have it the way it was years ago, when everyone had to pay to ride the buses? Or shall we go even further back and get the open-air trolleys that I doubt even went to the stores? Or when you had to pay $2.50 for a Century Village Guidebook?
Things in this village have dramatically improved over the years. Services are vastly improved, the amenities are second to none in terms of bang for your buck. Personally, I believe that so much has been given in terms of amenities, that some people expect even more as long as they don't have to pay more. Well, nothing's free anymore, except maybe Obamaphones.
It is not so easy to walk into UCO and get a correct answer. Look at what happened to Olga and the Renters form. This had been standard operating procedure for years and it appears to change when Olga asks. The information desk really didn't know and they were insistent since it was Olga after all.
