Now as for allowing you to take photos and Videos? Sure, But only in a way that is unobtrusive. You are a poor photographer if you think that the way to take pictures is to be the Center of attention.Hi Bob,

Your answers to Gary are right on in my view. Anyone can call his blog "the people's blog," Dave, Gary, Olga or whoever. Those who read the blog and attempt to contribute may know better. As I see it now, the two blogs are polarized. There is little point in my going into the reasons for this, I think. Most of us are well aware of the blogs' histories.
As for our coeditors "selling out" to the Reporter becoming a Pennysaver, that is nonsense from my dealings with Myron and Joy, and for that matter, with the prior editors I have worked under. The editors have always been very conscious of keeping a balance between articles and ads. It is a fair warning, however—we don't want that to happen.
The newspaper has grown, not only in size but in quality, I think most readers would agree. Is it perfect? No. Do things get out of balance? Of course, but in the main they are corrected. That is normal.
Outsourcing the collection and placement of the major ads is not the first time we have outsourced. A few years ago, we changed from having an in-house paid person electronically lay out the pages to having an outside do this. When that didn't work out too well, we engaged Gregg Cox's professional team on the West Coast to do this for us, and they've done very well. We feel confident as they undertake the ad collection and placement job they will do well at this, too. If it doesn't, we can put a fast stop to the arrangement. One needs to bear in mind, as Ken Graff has pointed out, that in this electronic age there is no difference between a writer (such as myself) communicating from my apartment with the Reporter shop and Gregg communicating from Sarasota. The transmissions take only seconds.
Just because the Reporter is now headed in the "outsourcing" direction does not mean we might not change in the future. Times change and circumstances change, and we might find down the road we CAN go back to doing more in-house and that it would once again be advantageous. I feel sure the Reporter will adjust if that becomes the case.
The discussion at the recent Officers' Meeting about this was a healthy one, I thought. The charge that Joy and Myron are selling us out, however, is over the top.Lanny, you are correct. The charges are over the top, and to top it off, it comes from Idiots that have no clue how to do the job. They publish a little newsletter full of garbage, lies and half truths and then criticize the Reporter? They have NO CLUE on how to run the paper. NONE. They think that their new savior, Neil is going to step in and run the paper and channel 63. Hint, hint... he doesn't know either...but he sure can pull the wool... over the eyes and down to the feet. A natural.
